Dress Rehearsal Scheduling and Procedures
Once your recital request is approved, you will need to schedule a dress rehearsal with Russell Bloom in 254 MB I or rlb16@psu.edu. Please check the Current Room Schedule before approaching Russell with a requested time. Make sure that the applied faculty member is also available at that time. Depending on availability, a maximum of 2 hours will be scheduled for your dress rehearsal. (For piano recitals, up to 3 hours, if available.)

Tuning Form and Keyboard Selection
Submit the Tuning Request Form form whether or not you are using keyboard for your recital. This form will inform Greg Herrold, piano technician, and Russell Bloom of your instrument selection. The pianos in Esber Recital Hall are tuned regularly, and this helps us plan tunings accordingly. Remember that anyone planning on using the harpsichord or organ needs prior approval. One month notice is needed for harpsichord use. Approval is required by Greg Herrold and the Director of the School of Music.

Programs and Program Notes
Send recital program and program notes information as an email attachment to Camille Selden (cns107@psu.edu) at least two weeks prior to the recital date. Programs cannot be guaranteed if your program information is not received at least 14 days prior to the performance. Be sure to include:

* complete and accurate titles,
* composers (including dates),
* program notes,
* whether or not the recital is in partial fulfillment of a particular degree,
* whether the recital is a faculty recital, ensemble recital, or non-degree recital.

You will be informed once your program draft is finished. You should proof it with Camille in the office. The programs will be printed and placed in Esber Recital Hall, backstage right, if your recital is there. If your recital is elsewhere, you need to make your own arrangements for picking up programs in 233 Music Building I.

Press Release Information (for faculty and ensembles only)
Press release information for faculty and ensemble performances should be sent via email to Emily Hale at least one month prior to the recital date.

Stagehands
The number of stagehands for your recital will be determined by Russell Bloom based upon your needs. Stagehands are only scheduled for Esber Recital Hall performances; performers must make their own stagehand arrangements for other venues.

Recording
You may wish to use an approved student engineer, or you may prefer to hire a professional engineer to record your recital. Recording engineers who use School of Music equipment for any recording and/or editing are allowed to charge a maximum of $15 per hour for their services ($3.75 per quarter hour). There may be exceptions where different rates may be appropriate, such as last-minute emergency calls or unusually complicated audio configurations for some performances. In such cases, the amount to be paid is a private matter, handled on a case-by-case basis and in good faith by the parties involved. It is the responsibility of the recording engineer to establish the amount of a late notice fee. In all cases, it is the responsibility of musician and engineer to settle on a fee schedule before any recording takes place.

Please inform the person recording of the setup time assigned to you. Engineers should not try to enter the auditorium before stagehands have arrived and opened the doors.
